Who we are

KidzCare Tanzania was founded on the beliefs that children are the future and that every child regardless of race, gender, religion or social status, deserves to be brought up in a safe and supportive environment and that every child has the right to quality education and access to affordable health and community support services.

Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life for children who live in rural areas in Tanzania by providing access to education, nutrition, healthcare and establishing a safe and supportive environment so that the children can achieve their full potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.

What we do

Provide a home for orphaned, abused or neglected children, giving them the chance to grow up in a happy, safe and secure home environment.

Build early learning centers and schools in rural areas and working with motivated teachers to administer quality and affordable education programs from Pre-Primary to Standard VII. These programs not only cover the students’ academic requirements but also teach them to be confident individuals with a desire for learning, inquisitive minds, strong work ethic and principles.

Engage with the communities to ensure that no child goes hungry by implementing nutrition programs at the centers and schools and supporting low income families with food, clothing, and access to medical services.

Support our teachers on their ongoing development and assist with access to training to improve their knowledge and skills.

Network with other organisations to provide medical treatment, surgeries, and support for disabled children in the communities.

Enlist sponsors to help the children with the most potential to attend secondary school to further their education.

Since its founding in 2000, KidzCare Tanzania has grown from its humble beginnings of small home in one of Dar es Salaam's neediest neigbourhoods, to having schools and centers in two regions, with hundreds of students enrolled in the schools whom we support and work with on a daily basis.

Our home has grown from 6 children to 23 children, and in the past 19 years we have seen the amazing effect that it has had on these children's lives from being scared, abused and neglected to now being happy, outgoing children with hope and a future.

Our nutrition programs have given out tens of thousands of school meals and have made sure that no child goes hungry in our schools and communities.

Our medical programs have improved the health and wellbeing of the children in the communities and have given children born with disabilities access to medical treatment which has changed their lives and given them hope for the future.

Our education programs have affected the lives of hundreds of children and we have seen such amazing results from children struggling in schools, being barely able communicate and read/write in the local language (Kiswahili), to watching them proudly graduate from Primary School with the ability to not only read and write in Kiswahili but also in English and with a solid foundation in the core educational subjects with the will and desire to learn more.

These children are the future, and it has been a privilege to watch their lives being transformed and has encouraged us that our work really does make a difference.
